Originally from Germany, I trained at Humboldt University/Charite’ in Berlin and specialized in general internal medicine. After years of working as a physician I found my place in the general practice and working as a family doctor. My special interests? The variety of being a GP! Northland life means nature pure, swimming in the ocean, hiking, running... to me!

Dr. Taco Kistemaker
(FRNZCGP, MD, NHG (NL))
The initial plan was to arrive in New Zealand, work and explore this beautiful country for three years, then returning home to Holland. However, the clinical challenges of working in the far north matched with the amazing life style and warm, welcoming communities that accepted us made it impossible to leave. More than a decade later and three amazing children, both Simone and I realize what a privilege it is to work here. I am truly humbled to call Northland our home, to work with and for the amazing people in our community and I look forward to a bright health future.
Dr. Richard Hawkins
I was born and educated in England and moved with my family to New Zealand in 1995, and have spent most of the last 24 years as a GP at Tamatea Medical Centre in Napier. My wife and I had planned to move up to Kerikeri for some time and as our ‘children' are now independent adults, we finally made the big move in November 2018. I’m working part-time on 2 days a week at Waipapa, with occasional extra duties when needed. My copious spare time is spent gardening, gardening, occasionally fishing, but mostly gardening.
